Privacy Statement Sadaja Books

Last updated: 22 September 2026

Sadaja Books (sadajabooks.com) is a platform where readers discover books by independent authors and where authors work on their books with Sadaja Studio. This statement explains which data we process, why and with whom we share it.

Who is responsible

Sami Verhoek, trading as Sadaja Books, in formation, the Netherlands.
Privacy questions: support@sadajabooks.com.

Which data we process and why

Account. Your name, email address, password (stored encrypted) and your language choice. Needed to log in and manage your account.

Authors. What you enter in your author profile and for your books: titles, blurbs, excerpts, covers and links. This text becomes public when you publish a book.

Sadaja Studio. Your manuscripts, notes and projects are stored first of all in your own browser. Only when you start an AI action yourself do we send the text needed for it to an AI service (see below). We keep your credit balance and usage on the server.

Beta readers. When you apply as a beta reader, we store your application and your languages. If an author accepts you and puts a manuscript on the site, we store your comments, your answers and which chapters you have read. The author of the book sees this feedback.

Reports. When you report a book, we store the reason and the time, and your account if you are logged in.

Email. We only send email that belongs to your use of the site, such as activating your account, a new password, a beta reader application, a reading link and one reminder if you have not given any feedback as a beta reader yet. We never send attachments.

Visitor statistics. Sadaja Books counts how often pages and books are viewed. We also use Google Analytics, only if you consent to it (see cookies).

AI services

Only when you start an AI action does the text needed for it go to one of these services. We do not send your name or email address.

  • OpenAI (United States): editing, checks, summaries, the AI test reader, cover images and the check of book texts and covers when you publish.
  • Anthropic (United States): writing scenes in Manuscript Writer.
  • TypeSafe AI (Jev): a short review of beta reader comments (spam, tone) and of reports (how urgent). Only the text of the comment or report is sent. A person always makes the decision.

Where these services operate outside the European Economic Area, this is based on the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. As far as we know, these services do not use what we send through their business API to train their models.

Other parties

  • TransIP (Netherlands): hosting of the website and the database.
  • Google (Google Analytics and Site Kit): visitor statistics. Google Fonts are currently loaded from Google’s servers.
  • Elementor: the layout of the site and an accessibility button loaded from Elementor’s servers.
  • Gravatar (Automattic): profile pictures for accounts.
  • WooCommerce: the web shop.

We do not sell data and do not share it with anyone else unless the law requires us to.

Cookies

On your first visit, a notice asks whether you accept cookies. You can change your choice at any time through Cookie settings at the bottom of the site.

  • Necessary, always on: logging in (WordPress), your language choice (sadaja_ui_lang), your cookie choice (cmplz_ and wp_consent_) and the shopping cart (WooCommerce).
  • Statistics, only with your consent: Google Analytics (_ga and _ga_…).
  • Marketing, only with your consent: WooCommerce’s source tracking (sbjs_…), which records which link brought you to the site.

How long we keep data

  • Account and author data: as long as your account exists.
  • Beta reader comments and answers: as long as the author keeps the book on the site, or until you or the author delete them.
  • Reports and reviews of comments: at most 12 months.
  • Usage and cost of AI actions: at most 24 months, for credit administration. We do not store the text itself there.
  • Mail records (to whom, when, which kind of mail): at most 12 months.

Your rights

You may view, correct, delete or take your data with you, or object to its use. Email support@sadajabooks.com. You will receive an answer within one month. If you disagree with how we handle your data, you can file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).

Security

The site runs over an encrypted connection (https). API keys for AI services are stored only on the server and never reach your browser. Only the administrator has access to the site’s back end.
